Risk Management

The indications that your products and/or services could do well in the global marketplace might be:

  1. Increased website traffic from international visitors.
  2. More international visitors to your trade show booth than you had previously experienced.

Another indication could be that your competition is successful in international markets. These reasons could be a gauge of future success abroad. But what about the added risk? And what if your international customer demands buying on terms before placing the order?

Selling on open account can give you the advantage over your competition and protecting yourself against loss is key.
In-Compasse is a registered insurance broker working with both public and private sector insurers.

In the public sector, Export Import (Exim) Bank of the U.S. offers various policies that protect U.S. exporters from default by foreign buyers. For an overview of Exim products and policies, click on What we Do and Don’t Do under the Get Started pull down menu on the Exim site. Then click on the Country Limitation Schedule under the Tools for Exporters pull down menu to see if Exim covers exports to the market(s) you are considering. There are other options with private sector companies but start with Exim first. Exim policies are a very cost-effective way to mitigate risk.

You can also arrange for a chat with In-Compasse. Just complete the request and schedule a time that works for you from the attached calendar.

If your company doesn’t qualify for an Exim policy, In-Compasse works with several private sector insurers. Be sure to request your 30 minute free consultation. We can arrange a call or a Zoom meeting.

Something Extra…While In-Compasse focuses on risk mitigation and finance options, our years of experience working in and with international markets and other export professionals gives you an added benefit. We have worked with the SBA, Commerce and various economic development entities that are in the business of helping U.S. companies become successful exporters. We can answer your questions or let you know who can.
